Tracfone is the largest mobile virtual network operator in United States of America. It buys talk time and network from other users and presents it as Tracfone Minutes to its customers. It is very popular among people who don't use cell phone regularly or use it just for emergency purposes. It covers almost the entire American Population.
Like any other mobile phone service provider, Tracfone Prepaid also provides Tracfone Text Messaging. Tracfone text messaging is just like messaging from any other service provider. The customer has to go to "Menu", then to "Message" option and then select "Create Message". The customer is then required to type the desired message and send it to desired recipient by typing his/her 10 digit number after selecting the type of message, that is, SMS or MMS or MMS template. Tracfone allows 160 characters in one text message. Characters more than this are covered as a second message and hence increase the messaging charge. This is quite similar to what other cell phone service providers offer.

This procedure may change from phone to phone. Receiving Tracfone Text Message is also very simple and is just like any other phone. The customer is expected to go to his Inbox for viewing the text message. Most mobile phone usually has the option of directly going to the inbox in case a message arrives.
Emailing is not a part of Tracfone Text Message. That is, Tracfone does not provide the option of sending a text message as an Email to a Computer. However, Tracfone does provide the option of sending a MMS as an Email to a Computer. But it must be noted that this process costs double the normal SMS, though this works only for phones which are compatible with MMS. Tracfone text messages can sometimes also be sent to international numbers however, it costs more than the normal Tracfone Text Message. Sending Tracfone Text Message generally costs between 0.3 to 0.5 units or Tracfone Minutes, though it changes according to the plan and the cell phone. MMS costs are double the normal Text Message costs. Receiving Tracfone Text Messages is free for some Models, but some Tracfone charges for models like Motorola C139 or Motorola C261. Tracfone Text Messages like any other Tracfone services are expected to be used in case of emergency. For heavy users, this service can prove to be very costly.
